FingerAlphabet Cool Kids Series
108 Word Search Puzzles with the American Sign Language Alphabet: Omnibus (Adjectives + Verbs + Adverbs)
What this book is:
A puzzle and practice book for ASL fingerspelling recognition, designed for 3rd through 5th graders. This omnibus edition combines all three Cool Kids volumes: adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. Every letter in the puzzle grid is a handshape from the American Sign Language alphabet, so kids build fingerspelling recognition skills and reinforce English grammar at the same time.
Fingerspelling is only one part of American Sign Language, but recognizing fingerspelled handshapes in everyday communication can be difficult for learners. These puzzles offer structured, age-appropriate practice with ASL alphabet handshape recognition.
What this book contains:
This edition contains 108 handcrafted ASL fingerspelling word search puzzles with age-appropriate vocabulary covering adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. Each puzzle includes a direction icon showing how words are hidden in that specific grid. Simpler puzzles use fewer directions; more complex puzzles add more. Overall vocabulary is Level 2-3.
The handshape illustrations were purpose-built using a custom professional sign language font and validated by at least two independent, recognized experts, including an expert from Gallaudet University. All signs are shown from the viewer’s perspective.
Also included:
an ASL alphabet reference chart, a fingerspelling tutorial, solutions for all puzzles, and bonus alphabet charts to cut out and share.
Created for Project FingerAlphabet, a pro bono publico project dedicated to making accurate sign language materials freely accessible. The project was nominated for the German Award for Civic Engagement.
Free downloadable alphabet charts for the American Sign Language alphabet available at fingeralphabet.org/ASL.
Primary market:
USA (ASL learners, homeschool families, sign language educators, classrooms).
Note:
This is a puzzle and practice book for ASL fingerspelling recognition. It is not a full American Sign Language course.

How is the Cool Kids series different from the standard ASL Fingerspelling Word Search Games?
The FingerAlphabet Cool Kids series is designed specifically for younger learners. Compared to the standard series, the Cool Kids puzzles use fewer words per puzzle, larger print, and age-appropriate vocabulary (Level 2-3, 3rd through 5th grade). Each volume focuses on a specific part of speech (adjectives, verbs, or adverbs), combining fingerspelling practice with English vocabulary and grammar. The books include basic fingerspelling instructions, illustrations, and each puzzle has a direction icon showing how words are hidden in that specific grid. The standard series does not include instructions, uses more words per puzzle, a smaller font size, more varied and advanced vocabulary, and covers a wider range of topics without a grammar focus.
